FAQ...
What does a psychoeducational evaluation include?
An evaluation includes a review of a student’s school records (report cards, standardized test scores, and other relevant documents), interviews (with parents, students, teachers, and other service providers as needed), rating scales/questionnaires, my direct observations of a student, and comprehensive cognitive processing and academic achievement testing.
After the evaluation is completed, I provide a detailed report summarizing the results and making recommendations for an individualized student support plan. I review the report and support plan with parents during a parent feedback meeting. I also offer a student feedback meeting and a meeting with the school support team as needed.
Following the feedback meetings, I can also provide ongoing parent consultations and parent coaching for an additional fee.
What does the testing involve?
The testing can usually be completed in three testing sessions scheduled over a few weeks. With advanced planning, I am often able to schedule testing on Saturdays or other days during which a student might be off from school. The first two testing sessions are 3 hours each and the third session can usually be completed in 1-2 hours.
What is your fee for an evaluation? Do you accept insurance?
My fee for a comprehensive evaluation is $6,000. This includes all components of the evaluation, a detailed report and recommendations, a parent feedback meeting, a student feedback meeting, and a meeting with the school support team if requested.
For insurance purposes, I am not considered to be an in-network provider. After the evaluation is complete, I can provide a statement that you can submit to your insurance company to see if they will reimburse a portion of the fee. In my experience, however, most insurance plans do not reimburse for this type of an evaluation.
Where is your office located?
My office is located in Sausalito. Most of the students I work with live and/or go to school in San Francisco or Marin.
